INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES


LIBRARY

Library is the heart beat of an institution. Imayam Arts and Science has got a fine library with more than 5000 books to meet the educational needs of the students. There are about 15 journals and magazines for students updation of knowledge on the current affairs and national and International scenario and E-books are also available in the library.

PLACEMENT CELL

The college has established a centre for placement and training. The centre periodically would arrange sessions with internal and external resources for training the students in communicative efficiency, interview techniques and Quantitative Aptitude for placement purposes. Quite often off campus and on campus drives would be organized for finding placement opportunities to students on decent pay scales. So far the Imayam group has got 500 placements for students in reputed companies.

CENTRE FOR FACULTY DEVELOPMENT (CFD)

Teachers are the Archstones of an educational Institution. The quality of students' education depends on the quality of teachers efficiency in knowledge, communication and values. It becomes mandatory that teachers of the college should be well groomed generally and their domain knowledge updated with recent developments and also sufficiently trained in value orientation.

The main purpose of establishing a Centre for Faculty Development (CFD) is to develop a band of excellent teachers who would contribute to multidimensional and holistic development of students in skill sets, values and subject oriented knowledge.

NSS

The institution spares no stone unturned and does great good in curricular and co-curricular activities. NSS has been installed to instill in the young mind "Not me but you" concept and philosophy. The fundamental objective of NSS is to train the students to render service to the Indian community in as many ways as possible to justify the concept "Man is born to Serve".

There are three units of NSS at Imayam under the guidance of three NSS program officers.

CLUBS

Development of multi skill sets among the student is essential for student's employability and global competency in addition to course and program outcomes. Several clubs like Debate club, Photographic club, Dance club, Quiz club and Rangoli and drawing club have been installed to unearth the talents latent in the students. Competitions would be organized and prizes would be awarded to encourage the students talent and skill sets.

TRANSPORT FACILITIES

Imayam has arranged bus facilities for easy transportation of students from their places to college and back within 50 km radius. It is free of cost or at minimum cost. This arrangement would enable and encourage students to be regular in their attendance and be punctual to classes.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The institution grants scholarships to the students to help them sustain their studies. There are mainly two types of scholarships:

Merit Based Scholarship

Scholarship to students who are economically backward In addition to the above scholarships offered by the management, the government scholarship to SC, ST Students are arranged and given to them. Such amount comes annually to the tune of Rs. 539350 for 184 SC, ST students. The Management scholarships is to the tune of Rs. 15 lakh per year.

SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Dr. Mahendran, Pollachi and Ms. Anuja, Chennai have agreed to donate and execute yearly scholarship scheme to the helpless poor students who aspire for higher education.

Dr. Mahendran donates Rs. 80000/- per year and Ms. Anuja donates Rs. 20000/- per year. Ten deserving students will be awarded this scholarship at the rate of Rs. 10000/- per year and per head which will be repeated in the second and third year of their degree programs. In other words the ten selected students will be given Rs. 30000/- as scholarships before they complete their 3 year degree programs.

HOSTEL

There are separate hostels for gents and ladies who have joined the institutions from far off and distance places. Stay in the hostel is free. Nutritious food is served to students on the basis of fixed menu.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited
2. Hostel authorities are responsible for room allotment and their decision is final and binding
3. Hostel and mess timings are to be strictly followed
4. Visitors are not allowed inside the hostel
5. The students are expected to be inside the hostel by 6.00 p.m. Late comers will be severely dealt with and for any kind of mischief, misbehavior or violation of hostel rules
6. Hostel inmates are excepted to obtain prior permission from the proctor, Hod or Principal and hostel study and silence hour from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 a.m. should be strictly observed
7. The students can leave the hostel premises early in the morning hours by 5.30 a.m. with the prior permission of the hostel authorities
8. Inmates have to maintain discipline in the hostel and should not cause inconvenience to other fellow inmates. In this regard the time from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. is treated as Study Hour and students are expected to maintain silence and not disturb others during these hours
9. Students should not possess or consume any tobacco/alcohol/ drug items inside the campus. If found, the student concerned will be suspended from the hostel.
10. Food and other belongings of the mess are not be taken outside the mess.
11. Inmates are requested to keep their belongings safe. Jewels and other costly items are not to be kept in the hostel. Institution and hostel authorities are not responsible for the loss of any of their belongings.
12. General cleanliness in rooms, bathrooms, toilets and verandahs must be followed by all the inmates and should also take the responsibility of keeping safe the common walls, fittings in the corridors, bathrooms, quadrangle etc.. If any damage occurs, the charges for repair / replacement / white washing etc., will be deducted from their hostel deposit / advance.
13. Inmates are required to switch off the light and fans before they leave their rooms.
14. For any activity within the hostel such as meeting and birthday celebrations are not allowed.
15. Prior permission must be obtained for accommodating (lady) guests. Guests charge of Rs. 200/- per person (only lodging) is to be paid for one day stay.
16. Any inmate, who is found misbehaving including an activity that spoils the repute of the institute, will be immediately suspended from the hostel.
17. Students going out of the campus for any reason must make an entry in the movement register
18. Students should not deface/paste/scribble anything on the walls.
19. Students are not allowed to celebrate any parties (like birthday) inside the hostel, bus and colleges. If found they will be punished
20. No student is permitted to leave the hostel without the consent of parents and without permission from the Warden or proctor.
21. Usage of mobile phones or any electrical gadget is strictly prohibited inside the hostel.
22. The mess timings are:

Breakfast: 7.45a.m.-8.45 a.m.
Lunch : As mentioned in the college time table.
Tea 4.30 p.m.-5.30 p.m.
Dinner: 8.00 p.m. 9.00 p.m.

23. Day-Scholars are not allowed to enter the Hostel.
24. Clean shave and proper hair cut is compulsory for men students In the hostel.
