DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY

A sound knowledge about Microbiology imparts knowledge regarding diagnosis and preferred treatment course for diseases. The industry of Microbiology has shown capacity for growth and the latest developments indicate that the discipline is ever-evolving and includes various branches of science, including bacteriology, virology, immunology, parasitology and mycology.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Microbiology was started in the year 2005 with an effective classroom environment and well-equipped laboratories. The Microbiology laboratory holds all the essential chemicals, immunological kits and instruments required for the students.

• The department has by far produced 8 University Rank Holders and made the students develop their own domain-specific proceeding.
• We hold a distinct specialization in providing quality training on Mushroom Cultivation and Vermicomposting Programmes.
• The Department of Microbiology organized a seminar on “Recent Trends in Nanotechnology'' that witnessed a national turnout.
• Our students conduct a programme of Blood grouping for all the first year candidates every year.
• We have our own Herbal garden in the college premises which invokes the students to take care of the herbal plants. The green garden was fully organized by the students and faculties of Microbiology.
• Book donation programme is also steered every year by the students of Microbiology where they collect and donate books to the library.

INFRASTRUCTURE

We comprehensively hold all the equipment and resources required to ensure that the students are working with the latest technology that is industry-recommended. We give the students the liberty and knowledge to understand, explore and test different experiments.

We have sophisticated equipment in our laboratory, including PCR, 2D-Gel electrophoresis chambers, Anaerobic jar, Phase Contrast Microscopes, Blotting Apparatus, ELISA Reader & Washer, COD Incubator, and UV-VIS Spectrophotometers.

FACULTY

Our Department faculty hold deep domain and industry knowledge. They leverage the same to impart quality education for all the students of Microbiology. They play an active role in the development of the subject understanding and application by partaking in national level seminars, conducting research and publishing papers in acclaimed journals. The students participate in all the activities which enables them to widen their spectrum.
